Sectional Garage Doors

The sectional door has many advantages. When closed it is completely deals the opening making it much more secure, also keeping rain, wind and leaves out.

The door travels vertically up and lays into tracks in the garage roof space, this allows you to gain the full height opening, it is also possible to park up close to the door as it does not kick out. There is also an insulated option allowing maximum warmth inside garage.

Roller Garage Doors

Manual, the roller door runs up and down tracks either side of the garage opening, the beauty of the roller door is it takes up little room inside the garage, typically needing 400mm of headroom for the roller to be mounted, this type is generally non-insulated.

Up and Over Garage Doors

The up and over garage door is probably the most commonly used in the UK.

There are 2 types,

Canopy

the first is a canopy which is a solid metal door that runs up the inside of a frame using a tensioned spring, situated above the door. There is 2 cables either side the door and work together to pull the door up,

Retractable

Very similar to the canopy but the mechanics are different, the tracks run horizontally into the garage and it has a spring on either side of the door aiding its travel.

This door is most commonly used if you require an electrically operated door.

Remote Control Doors

Side Hinged Doors

One of the more original garage door types, typically made in steel instead of timber, the advantages of the side hinged doors is you can open only half the door or in some cases 1/3 of the doo, that way not exposing the contents of your garage to the outside world. Perfect if you only need to access the garage for bikes, lawn mowers and/or household appliances.

Electrical Operators

The electric roller garage door can be insulated or non-insulated, they are very similar in design, but the insulated only needs 300mm typically to house the roller at the top of the garage opening, and operating by a press of a button you can use this from the comfort of your car, a real advantage if it’s dark or raining.
